Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about licensing, rights, Limited Edition, payment and downloads.
What kind of licenses or clearances does Artyfile provide?
ARTYFILE grants a Synchronization/Master Use License. A Synchronization/Master Use License allows music to be used in timed relation to moving picture. A moving picture can be defined as a slideshow, video or a film. Artyfile offers two types of premium music assets: Artyfile Basic and Artyfile Limited Edition.
What kind of payment methods do you accept?
We accept all Stripe-supported payment methods, including credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
What audio quality of the songs is delivered?
With the purchased song, the file is available for download as a high-resolution WAV file with 24bits and 44100Hz. The Download Preview song, can be downloaded by anyone as an MP3 file at 128 kbps as an example.
What is Artyfile Basic?
Artyfile Basic is a high-quality, standalone music track. Each Artyfile Basic includes full sync rights, making it perfect for use in films, videos, and content creation without any subscription obligations. Whether for background music, social media posts, or professional videos, this music is crafted by the world's leading artists, composers, and studios (such as Abbey Road Studios and the London Symphony Orchestra). With a range of genres, each track is available for direct download in WAV or MP3 format.
What are Artyfile Limited Edition?
Artyfile Limited Edition includes all the benefits of Artyfile Basic and goes further by adding ownership shares in the music's master rights. Each Limited Edition Artyfile is represented by a secure Music NFT that allows owners to profit from global streaming revenues and sync rights. Unlike typical NFTs, these can be purchased with traditional currencies (Euro, Dollar, Pound) and serve as a valuable investment opportunity, enabling you to trade and earn from music's potential growth and worldwide streaming.
How many times can I use a song?
When you purchase an Artyfile license, you receive unlimited usage rights for the acquired song – perpetual, worldwide, and with no additional fees. Here's what that means: Unlimited usage: You can use the same song across all your projects – whether for YouTube videos, Instagram Reels, advertising campaigns, or corporate films. Unlimited formats: For a single campaign, you may export the same content in different video formats (e.g. 9:16 for Reels and Stories, 4:5 for feed ads, 16:9 for YouTube). One license covers all format variations of the same content. Unlimited platforms: Publish your content on all major platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Vimeo, or your own website – without restrictions. No time limits: Your license is perpetual. No annual renewals, no need to remove content after a certain period. Example: You purchase a song for your Facebook and Instagram advertising campaign. The same ad is exported in three formats (9:16, 4:5, 16:9) – this is fully covered by a single license. Want to use the same song later for an entirely new corporate video? That's already included. If you have any questions about proper license usage, please reach out via our contact form .
If you're hired to create the Project...
If you're hired to create a project — for example as an agency, freelancer or employee — your client is covered by your license and can use the finished project. You and your client can publish and distribute the project across media: websites, social networks, online, broadcast and other channels. The license does not include separate public-performance (performing) rights: for public playback in venues, hotels, shops or at events, separate agreements with the relevant collecting society (e.g. GEMA, PRS) may be required. Artyfile is made for video, so the music itself can't be used as a standalone audio file, and you can't sell, transfer, sublicense, share or assign the track on its own — only as part of your project.
Can I use the song on Youtube videos
Yes — you can use Artyfile music safely in your YouTube videos; it's fully cleared and never struck, blocked or taken down. Direct channel monetization is disabled for videos using our music, because the advertising revenue is collected by Artyfile via YouTube Content ID. (Your video may receive a Content ID claim — that is not a strike and does not affect your channel.) With Artyfile Basic you receive safe usage rights but no share of that ad revenue. If you want to earn from the music, choose Artyfile Limited Edition: you own a share of the master and then receive a pro-rata share of the worldwide Content ID pool, plus streaming and sync revenue, every time the track is used anywhere. Actual earnings depend on how often the track is used and aren't guaranteed.
What does 'royalty-free' or 'license-free' mean at Artyfile
At Artyfile it means that after a one-time purchase you can use the music in your projects with no extra or recurring fees — sync and master rights are managed directly by Artyfile, so there are no additional collection-society fees. A typical 'royalty-free' license is like renting a car: you pay to use it, but you never own it or profit from it. Artyfile Basic gives you exactly that worry-free use. Artyfile Limited Edition goes one step further into ownership: you buy a share of the master — like owning a share in the car-rental company — so you can still drive the car (use the music) and also earn a pro-rata share every time the track is streamed or licensed elsewhere — actual earnings depend on usage and aren't guaranteed. It's the shift from consumer to owner, available from Limited Edition.
May I use the purchased music in my podcast
Yes, you can also use the purchased music in podcasts.
What do I need to purchase an Artyfile Limited Edition and gain music ownership shares?
You need a free Artyfile account and an Ethereum-compatible wallet address (e.g., MetaMask) to receive your Music NFT shares. No cryptocurrency is required—you can pay directly in Euros, Dollars, or Pounds. Please ensure your wallet address is correct, as Artyfile isn't responsible for errors.
What is a Wallet (Blockchain Wallet) and a Wallet Address?
A blockchain wallet securely stores and manages digital assets like Artyfile Limited Editions. Your wallet address is like a bank account number—it's your unique blockchain address to receive assets.
How do I create a Wallet (Blockchain Wallet)?
Creating an Ethereum-compatible wallet takes only a few minutes and is completely free. Simply choose a trusted wallet app (e.g., MetaMask , Coinbase Wallet ), follow the on-screen "Create / New Wallet" instructions, and write down the 12–24-word recovery phrase in a safe, offline place. Your new wallet address is ready to receive your Artyfile Limited Edition Music NFTs.
How do I receive my streaming and licensing revenues?
Your streaming and licensing earnings are paid out quarterly by bank transfer to the account registered in your Artyfile account, so you benefit easily and transparently from your shares. A minimum payout threshold of €50 applies; amounts below it carry over to the next payout period.
Where can I sell my ownership shares?
You can sell or transfer your ownership shares on the Artyfile NFT Market and on major NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea and Rarible, or transfer them directly wallet-to-wallet — letting you benefit from any potential increase in value.
What are Music NFTs?
Music NFTs are kind of like digital ownership certificates for a song or piece of music. Imagine that you're not just buying a copy of a song but also receiving a digital certificate that proves you own a share of it. This ownership is written into a blockchain, which is more secure than traditional contracts and makes tampering virtually impossible. It's similar to owning a unique piece of art or a rare collectible card, but in this case, it's music. With Music NFTs, you can acquire rights to a song, such as earning revenue from streaming or its use in films, videos, or commercials – going beyond just listening to the music.
What is a Blockchain?
A blockchain is kind of like a digital, public ledger or a chain of building blocks, where each new block stores information that can't be changed. Imagine each transaction or record as a page in a book, where every page is securely linked to the next. No one can alter a single page without changing all the others – and that would be extremely difficult. This linked structure creates a highly secure and tamper-resistant system. For example, no one can secretly make changes, because the entire 'book' is public, verifiable, and any modification has to be confirmed by a network of computers.
Where can I manage my subscription?
You can manage your existing Artyfile Stream subscription at any time under ACCOUNT . (e.g., change password and name...)
How much does Artyfile pay artists per stream?
Artyfile pays a minimum of €0.03 per stream, which is ten times higher than the industry standard of approximately €0.003. Through our patronage system, payouts can reach up to €0.20 per stream depending on user consumption patterns. If you listen to fewer tracks, each artist receives a larger share of your €12.00 monthly artist pool allocation.
Is Artyfile streaming unlimited?
Artyfile utilizes a “Fair Use Cap” of 500 streams per month. This limitation is designed to prevent bot fraud and guarantee high payouts to artists. At 500 streams monthly, you can enjoy approximately 16 tracks per day. Users who need more can purchase top-up packages of 100 additional streams for €4.99.
Why is Artyfile €19.90 per month?
The €19.90 monthly subscription ensures a sustainable ecosystem where artists are paid fairly. Of your subscription: €12.00 is allocated directly to the artist pool, €4.00 covers platform operations and high-fidelity server infrastructure, and the remainder covers VAT and payment processing. By bypassing the 30% commission charged by Apple and Google through our web-first model, we maximize what reaches artists.
What audio quality does Artyfile Stream offer?
Artyfile Stream delivers uncompressed WAV audio at 44.1kHz / 24-bit quality—the same format used in professional recording studios. This is significantly superior to the lossy AAC or Ogg Vorbis formats (320kbps) used by Spotify and Apple Music, preserving full dynamic range and sonic detail.
Why do I need to subscribe on the website instead of the app?
We require web subscriptions to bypass the 30% commission that Apple and Google charge on in-app purchases. This decision increases the artist margin by €4–5 per user. After subscribing on our website, you can download the app and log in with your credentials to start streaming immediately.
What is “Listen to Own” and how does it work?
“Listen to Own” bridges our streaming app with the Artyfile NFT marketplace. You can discover tracks while streaming, then purchase ownership shares (1% of master rights) as Music NFTs. As a rights holder, you earn from global streaming royalties and sync licensing fees whenever the track is used worldwide. You can pay with traditional currencies (EUR, USD, GBP)—no cryptocurrency required.
What exclusive content does Artyfile Stream have?
Artyfile Stream features recordings from world-renowned institutions including Abbey Road Studios and the London Symphony Orchestra. Our catalogue is hand-curated for exceptional production quality, featuring works by internationally acclaimed composers. We prioritize quality over quantity—a “gourmet” approach to music streaming.
Can filmmakers use Artyfile Stream for work?
Absolutely. While Artyfile Stream is a B2C product for private listening and discovery, it integrates seamlessly with our sync licensing platform. Filmmakers and content creators use the app to scout music during ideation phases, then license tracks for commercial use through the main Artyfile marketplace. It’s the perfect discovery tool for creative professionals.
